The election has been called, and I am ready for the challenge.
In the months since my nomination I have been to all corners of Delta, meeting with and listening to members of the community. It is clear that many of us want to see a change in our government and our representation. We want change that will make a difference: change that will help families make ends meet; change that will protect our environment; change that will bring this country together and restore Canadians’ relationship with their government.
But change isn’t just voting against something; it is voting for something better. I am standing as a candidate for the Liberal Party of Canada because I believe we represent the best opportunity for real change, for new leadership and a new plan, after ten years of Conservative government.
We will cut taxes for the middle class. We will provided increased support for families who need it the most. We will restore openness to Canadian government and will strengthen Canadian democracy. We will protect our environment and take action on climate change. We will bring back the strong, fair, and just society that Canada deserves.
I am excited to be a part of this plan for change, and I believe it is the best alternative for Delta. We have a wonderful, vibrant, and diverse community – a community that I chose to raise a family in because of its many strengths. Our community must be at the heart of decision making. People must be involved and included in the decisions that affect them. People need a representative who listens to them and who responds.
I have a proven record of results in helping communities make a difference by listening and responding to their needs. I am ready and eager to use this experience to make a difference for our Delta community. I look forward to continuing to hear people’s thoughts, ideas, and concerns, and to giving them a voice in Ottawa as the next Member of Parliament for Delta.
